The Monarch Knights will head out on the road to take on the Chaminade-Madonna Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Monarch's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed two weeks ago. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Fort Lauderdale 54-0. That looming 54-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Knights yet this season.

It was another big night for Florentino Lopez, who threw for 434 yards and five touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 310.4 passing yards per game. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Wallace McIntosh, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Monarch's defense and their three sacks. Dasean Miller was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight. Jayden Joselin was another major factor on D, making eight total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Monarch, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of McIntosh, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Chaminade-Madonna came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.7 points), and they left with even more momentum. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 56-0 victory over the Wildcats. 56 seems to be a good number for the Lions as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Chaminade-Madonna found their leader in freshman Malik Leonard, who threw for 435 yards and five TDs while completing 86.7% of his passes. Jasen Lopez also helped out as he racked up 118 receiving yards.
Chaminade-Madonna was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 213 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 213 rushing yards in four consecutive games.
Monarch now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Chaminade-Madonna, their record is now 4-1.
The upcoming matchup will be a clash of competing strengths. Monarch has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 324.6 passing yards per game. Chaminade-Madonna, on the other hand, has relied on a stout run game: they average 221.8 rushing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
Monarch took a serious blow against Chaminade-Madonna in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 37-8. Thankfully for the Knights, Jaquari Lewis (who rushed for 69 yards and a pair of scores on only nine carries, and also threw for 108 yards and one touchdown) won't be suiting up this time.
