The Grants Pirates will venture away from home to challenge the Laguna Acoma Hawks at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Grants is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
While Grants' win against Rehoboth Christian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pirates skirted past the Lynx 7-5. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Lynx: they've now won three in a row.

Alynn Othole spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Delilah Martinez was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. Aubrhyanna Garcia also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Laguna Acoma waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Cougars 10-1. Considering the Hawks have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brianna Filmer was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two triples, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Tavani Scott was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. Another player making a difference was Ciandra Lucero, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Laguna Acoma always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in nine consecutive contests.
Laguna Acoma's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Grants, their record now sits at 6-8.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Grants hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Laguna Acoma struggles in that department as they've averaged .575. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Grants skirted past Laguna Acoma 7-6 in their previous matchup back in March of 2017. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
