Tyler Belleville made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. P.K. Yonge is 5-1 when Belleville posts two or more runs, but 5-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, Darius Medley was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and seven RBI. Those seven RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Preston Splitt, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
P.K. Yonge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Dixie County fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Taylor County on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 2-1. The Bears' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Dixie County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Cobb, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Cobb has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
P.K. Yonge now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Dixie County, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
Dixie County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: P.K. Yonge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. It's a different story for Dixie County, though, as they've only averaged .232. Will they be able to contain P.K. Yonge's hitters?
P.K. Yonge suffered a grim 21-11 defeat to Dixie County in their previous matchup last Thursday. Can the Blue Wave avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
