The Murray Spartans had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Pleasant Grove by a score of 72-65 on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Murray to victory, but perhaps none more so than Quinton Christman, who scored 14 points along with five assists and five steals. The match was Christman's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Deacon Poole, who scored 15 points along with seven assists and three steals.
Murray's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Pleasant Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 10-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Murray and Cottonwood will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Cottonwood is ranked 44th, while Murray is ranked 26th). Pleasant Grove will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Riverton at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th.
