The Bremen Lions will head out to face off against the Central Noble Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Bremen not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 29th (when they won 15-5). They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over South Central. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Preston Williams was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Zack Rouch was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
Bremen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are 6-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central Noble). Everything went their way against Tippecanoe Valley on Monday as they made off with a 10-3 win.
Jacob Chenoweth was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Chenoweth was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Central Noble got a massive performance out of Ryne Keirn, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two runs gave Keirn a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Treyton Fletcher, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Central Noble pushed their record up to 4-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Bremen, their record is now 11-8-1.
Central Noble's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bremen hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. It's a different story for Central Noble, though, as they've only averaged .232. Will they be able to contain Bremen's hitters?
Everything went Bremen's way against Central Noble in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Bremen made off with a 14-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
