Rosholt is 8-2 against Almond-Bancroft since August of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. Almond-Bancroft took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Rosholt, who comes in off a win.
Rosholt not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 16th (when they won 3-0). They put the hurt on Crandon with a sharp 3-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Hornets as it put an end to their three-match losing streak.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Rosholt was: they took every set by at least 11 points. The final score came out to 25-7, 25-9, 25-14.
Rosholt can attribute much of their success to Aubree Dombrowski, who had eight digs and three aces. Those three aces gave Dombrowski a new career-high. Isabelle Groshek also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.
They weren't the only good servers: Rosholt was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Almond-Bancroft suffered their biggest defeat since September 4th on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to Pacelli.
While Almond-Bancroft was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Pacelli's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-14, 25-20.
Almond-Bancroft has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season. As for Rosholt, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Rosholt has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.9 aces per game. However, it's not like Almond-Bancroft struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Rosholt took their win against Almond-Bancroft in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
