Discovery Christian's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against McLaurin, falling 58-25. While losing is never fun, Discovery Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 277th, while McLaurin is ranked 132nd).
It was another big night for Michael Wallace, who scored 19 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists for McLaurin. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Wallace has scored at least 25% of McLaurin's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Davidson, who scored 7 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Discovery Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for McLaurin, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Discovery Christian will square off against Sylva Bay Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for McLaurin, they will head out on the road to face off against Puckett at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Puckett is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
