The Sunnyslope Vikings waltzed into their game on Tuesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They put the hurt on Liberty with a sharp 58-37 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Sunnyslope has posted since December 13, 2023.
Rider Portela continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Jai Anthoni Bearden was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Liberty still got an impressive performance from Jackson Hunter, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ring Nyeri, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Sunnyslope pushed their record up to 13-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sunnyslope will take on Boulder Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Liberty, they will be playing at home against Sunrise Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sunrise Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday.
