After having lost a blowout in their previous game against West Point, the Brewer Patriots were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Brindlee Mountain by a score of 51-41. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Brewer also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Brewer's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Walls led the charge by scoring six points along with two steals. Keylyn Stapler was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zoey Persle, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Persle continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Autumn Abernathy, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Brindlee Mountain were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brewer only racked up three assists.
The victory got Brewer back to even at 12-12. As for Brindlee Mountain, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brewer will challenge New Hope at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Brindlee Mountain, they will head out on the road to take on Asbury at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
