LA QUINTA, Calif. - the Patriots had a big 23-point second quarter on Saturday, sealing a 42-12 victory over La Quinta (Calif.).
Heritage scored on a
Sione Takitaki touchdown run, a touchdown pass by
Brett Virgil to
Chris Nile and a touchdown run by
Limihai Hifo in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Virgil to
Evan Rodriguez in the first quarter, HHS was up 36-12 at the half.
The Romoland school grew its lead to 30 points entering the fourth quarter. The Patriots scored once in the quarter on a Hifo touchdown run.
With the win Heritage extended its winning streak to eight games.
HHS had given up an average of 16.9 points prior to the contest. La Quinta's 12 points were well below their season average of 27.9 per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for La Quinta, which notched a 35-6 victory over Chaffey in its previous outing. The loss broke La Quinta's two-game winning streak.
LQ (8-4) faces off against Heritage in a playoff game its next time out. The Patriots enter the contest having posted a 10-1.
