The Warriors will welcome the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Grandview took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Smithville, who comes in off a win.
Smithville hadn't beaten Kearney on the road since September 22, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Warriors have posted against the Bulldogs since October 14, 2021.
While Smithville won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-16, 25-20.

Smithville's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Emma Swenson, who had 11 digs and three aces, and Elsie Mitchell, who had nine digs and four aces. What's more, Mitchell posted four assists, the most she's had over her last ten matches.
They weren't the only good servers: Smithville was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Grandview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Savannah.
Grandview's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Smithville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.
Everything went Smithville's way against Grandview in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Smithville made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
