West-Oak is 2-8 against Seneca since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The West-Oak Warriors will look to defend their home court against the Seneca Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. West-Oak has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 7.
West-Oak pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 56-55 to Crescent. West-Oak found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 18 to 9 on offense.
Defeat or not, West-Oak got some senior leadership from Anthony Kaliski and Drew Crompton. Kaliski scored 18 points along with three steals, while Crompton. scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kaliski has scored all season. Lucas Towe was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Walhalla scored an imposing 72 points on Tuesday, Seneca still came out on top. Seneca secured a 76-72 W over Walhalla. The victory was just what Seneca needed coming off of a 77-55 defeat in their prior matchup.
The match pitted two dominant players against one another in Jalen Craig and Ander Hunnicutt. Craig had a solid game and scored 17 points along with nine rebounds. Meanwhile, Hunnicutt was balling out in the loss, scoring 13 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
West-Oak has been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Seneca, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-4.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's game: West-Oak have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 5.5 threes per game. However, it's not like Seneca struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.9 threes per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
West-Oak was able to grind out a solid victory over Seneca in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 54-42. Will West-Oak repeat their success, or does Seneca have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
