Softball Recap: Raymondville Finds Home Field Redemption Against Progreso

There's no place like home for Raymondville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They never let the Progreso Red Ants get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Tuesday. The Bearkats haven't had any issues with the Red Ants recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Alyssa Rodriguez made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Becca Lopez and Abigail Alfaro did most of the damage at the plate: Lopez scored two runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3, while Alfaro went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave Lopez a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Jada Contreras, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Raymondville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .917. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Raymondville pushed their record up to 8-13 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.8 runs over those games. As for Progreso, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
