It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Connersville Spartans can now relate to. They fell 56-44 to the Bulldogs on Friday. Connersville has struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as their contest on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Connersville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Hailey Sembach. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Ahniyah Bennett was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five assists and two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Batesville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophie Gesell, who scored 13 points along with eight assists and two steals. It was the first time this season that Gesell posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Kaylin Kathman, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Connersville's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Batesville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-9.
Connersville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Batesville won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Greensburg is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road.
