Two dominant guards in Zak Abdalla and Alijah Adem are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Foothill Falcons will head out on the road to take on the Spring Valley Grizzlies at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Foothill will be strutting in after a victory while Spring Valley will be coming in after a loss.
On Tuesday, Foothill faced Centennial in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Foothill pulled ahead with a 74-73 photo finish over Centennial. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Spring Valley pushed their score all the way to 59 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 60-59 to Centennial. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (57), Spring Valley still had to take the loss.
Spring Valley might have lost, but man, Adem was a machine: he scored 28 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. Adem hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. CJ Joshua was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Foothill is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. As for Spring Valley, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
Foothill strolled past Spring Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2017 by a score of 84-65. The rematch might be a little tougher for Foothill since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
