Central Cabarrus proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 37) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past East Rowan 45-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Central Cabarrus has posted yet this season.
Central Cabarrus' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyra Lewis, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lewis has scored at least a third of Central Cabarrus' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Cruz, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
South Rowan suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 56-12 loss at the hands of Northwest Cabarrus. South Rowan was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-4.
Central Cabarrus has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for South Rowan, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
Central Cabarrus beat South Rowan 50-42 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was South Rowan's Kynlee Dextraze, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds.
