Baseball Recap: Streator Takes a Loss

Streator extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 11-19 in the process. They lost 13-1 to the East Peoria Raiders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 11-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Cole Winterrowd was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Streator's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 4-1 (and 7-18 when he doesn't).

As for East Peoria, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 22-7. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

On East Peoria's side, Jordan Marsh made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Marsh a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That run marked the first that he has scored this season.

In other batting news, East Peoria got a massive performance out of Jackson Ahrens, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Ahrens a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zach Haahn, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Coming up, Streator will welcome Morris at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Redskins will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for East Peoria, they will take on Normal Community at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Raiders 2.8, the Ironmen 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
