Honaker is on a 12-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Rye Cove is on a seven-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Honaker Tigers will take on the Rye Cove Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Honaker rose to the challenge on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 44-30 victory over the Rebels.
Honaker can attribute much of their success to Peyton Musick, who threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns, and Parker Bandy, who picked up 191 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Lowe, who rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns.
Even though Rye Cove has not done well against Twin Springs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Rye Cove came out on top against Twin Springs by a score of 18-7.
Their wins bumped Honaker to 12-0 and Patrick Henry to 8-4.
Honaker was able to grind out a solid victory over Rye Cove in their previous matchup back in September, winning 40-32. Will Honaker repeat their success, or does Rye Cove have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
