The Westwood Panthers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past Huntington 55-0 at home. The result was nothing new for Westwood, who have now won four contests by 29 points or more so far this season.
Kavian Bryant continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 290 yards and five touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Williams, who gained 91 total yards and a touchdown.
Westwood's victory was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 Huntington and 2-6 Buffalo (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 31.7% over those games). As for Huntington, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Westwood will head out on the road to face off against Crockett at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Crockett will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 871st, while Westwood is ranked 388th). As for Huntington, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Diboll at 7:00 p.m. Diboll will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
