Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Curtis). They blew past the Spanaway Lake Sentinels 18-5 on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.
Everly Gengler made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and three doubles. Those doubles marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, Melanie Spivey was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sophia Woodall, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Curtis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
