Basketball Recap: Ethan Townsend's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Westminster Christian Academy over Edmund Burke Academy

On Thursday, the Westminster Christian Academy Lions came up short against the Edmund Burke Academy Spartans and fell 57-50. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ethan Townsend, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. The game was Townsend's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Richards, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Edmund Burke Academy had a senior duo take command as Blake Reddick almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds and Mark Wasden dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Wasden. Davis Brown was another key player, putting up six points.

Westminster Christian Academy now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Edmund Burke Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

When Westminster Christian Academy and Edmund Burke Academy next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Westminster Christian Academy will try to stop Trinity Prep's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Edmund Burke Academy will try to stop Augusta Prep Day's six-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
