Omaha North is 0-10 against Millard South since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The two teams will face off at 5:30 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Omaha North and four for Millard South.
Omaha North pushed their score all the way to 60 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Westview 66-60.
Despite the defeat, Omaha North saw an underclassman step up: Alaeya Randle scored 23 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Randle also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Akazja Foster, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Millard South's 26-2 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 47-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lincoln Southwest. While losing is never fun, Millard South can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Lincoln Southwest is ranked 36th).
Omaha North bumped their record down to 1-3 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Millard South, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Omaha North took a serious blow against Millard South when the teams last played back in February of 2022, falling 69-17. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Omaha North was down 54-3.
