South Portland and Kennebunk are an even 3-3 against one another since June of 2017, but likely not for long. The Red Riots will challenge the Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. South Portland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
South Portland will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Deering on Monday. The Red Riots put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 19-6 victory. The Red Riots' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Maegan Berry was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, South Portland got a massive performance out of Sadie Soucy, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Rachel DiMauro was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and one RBI.
South Portland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Deering only managed three hits.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Kennebunk's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Windham on Wednesday. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
South Portland's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Kennebunk, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
South Portland was able to grind out a solid victory over Kennebunk in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 7-2. Do the Red Riots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
