The Collins Tigers are on the road again on Friday and play against the Loyd Star Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Collins had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past Puckett 50-30. Considering Collins has won four contests by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Collins' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tykedric Barnes, who rushed for 38 yards and three touchdowns. Austin Burkett was another key contributor, rushing for 135 yards on only ten carries.
Meanwhile, Loyd Star waltzed into Friday's contest with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Lake 21-20.
Loyd Star's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Omarion Clay, who picked up 98 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Jordyn Kees, who rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown.
Collins' win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Loyd Star, they have yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 10-1 record.
Collins was able to grind out a solid victory over Loyd Star when the teams last played back in November of 2022, winning 39-26. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Loyd Star's Bryce Ford, who rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Collins to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
