This was payback for West Liberty-Salem, who suffered a 55-50 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Liberty-Salem to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lilly Weaver, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Ava Astorino, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
West Liberty-Salem is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Mechanicsburg, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-2.
West Liberty-Salem didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 38-27 loss vs. Versailles on the 10th. Mechanicsburg will head out on the road to challenge Mississinawa Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Mississinawa Valley is coming into the match with ten straight wins at home, so Mechanicsburg is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
