Miyamura is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Thursday. They will venture away from home to challenge the Aztec Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Miyamura put up the most points they have all season last Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Rio Grande a 19-0 shutout. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Patriots with their most commanding win of the season.
ANDREA VINSON was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Miyamura got a massive performance out of ALAYNA VIDAL, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those three hits gave VIDAL a new career-high. ALEXIS BEGAY was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.
Miyamura was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .615. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in seven consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Aztec duked it out with Bloomfield on Tuesday. The Tigers blew past the Bobcats 20-2. The Tigers have beaten the Bobcats the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bobcats has come to flipping the script.
Kamora Henry made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She also put up four hits, which were her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Christina Whitehorse was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Cheyenne Yellow, who scored two runs while going 4-for-5.
Aztec pushed their record up to 8-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Miyamura, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Miyamura's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Patriots have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Aztec, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Miyamura continue to outrun the ball?
Miyamura suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to Aztec when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
