It was a proper cat-fight when Brilliant duked it out with Hubbertville on Tuesday. The Tigers came up short against the Lions, falling 20-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Brilliant saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cayden Yielding, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Tremont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Mantachie. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since February 13th.
Nathan Crenshaw and Ryan Marks stepped up to the plate in a big way. Crenshaw got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Marks went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Crenshaw has become a key player for Tremont: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-14 otherwise.
Brilliant's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Tremont, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-15.
Tremont's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Brilliant hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. It's a different story for Tremont, though, as they've only averaged .199. Will they be able to contain Brilliant's hitters?
