The Porter Spartans will face off against the Northbrook Raiders at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Porter will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Last Tuesday, Porter had just enough and edged Caney Creek out 37-34. Given Porter's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 390th, while Caney Creek is ranked 1023rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Northbrook was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Varsity Opponent 79-48 at home. The win made it back-to-back wins for Northbrook.
Among those leading the charge was Demetrius Holman, who scored 15 points along with 9 steals and 8 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Dillard, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds.
Porter's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Northbrook, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Porter beat Northbrook 53-41 in their previous matchup back in December of 2020. The rematch might be a little tougher for Porter since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
