Frederick is 2-8 against Holy Family since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Golden Eagles will host the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Frederick is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Frederick is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Broomfield.
Frederick got a good showing from Isaac LeFevre, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Dom LeFevre was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Holy Family won against Horizon on Monday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Tigers beat Silver Creek by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-4. Considering the Tigers have won six games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kaden Hopkin made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI and one run.
In other pitching news, Holy Family got a great performance from Brendan Ward as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts Ward has posted since back in March.
Back at the plate, Logan Seifarth was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Holy Family's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Dustin Bennett, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Holy Family kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Holy Family's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Frederick, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
Frederick suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Holy Family when the teams last played back in June of 2021. Will the Golden Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
