Centennial extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 10-14. They came out on top against the Borah Lions by a score of 9-6. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 2, 2022, but that streak is no more.
The team relied heavily on Avery Simpson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cali Moorhouse, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Centennial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They are 8-4 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
As for Borah, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 2, 2022, but that streak is no more.
On Borah's side, Justice Pruitt was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Pruitt was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Olyvia Chalifoux was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Abigail Howington was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double.
