The Lake Creek Lions will head out to challenge the Huntsville Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 968 yards in their previous games.
On Friday, Lake Creek didn't have too much trouble with Nederland as they won 39-22. The Lions pushed the score to 36-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs cut but never quite recovered from.

It was another big night for Zach Colwell, who rushed for 95 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries, and also threw for 245 yards and one touchdown. Lake Creek also got help from Juan Gonzalez, who showed off his sure hands for 103 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lake Creek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 213 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Meanwhile, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Huntsville made off with a 42-41 victory over Dayton. The win almost wasn't to be: the Hornets were down 21-7 in the second quarter.
Huntsville found their leader in sophomore Zarien Adolphe, who rushed for 144 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 185 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Adolphe showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 68 yards. Jakhavien Birks also helped out as he racked up 157 rushing yards.
The victory made it two in a row for Lake Creek and bumps their season record up to 3-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.5 points over those games. As for Huntsville, their record now sits at 3-4.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Lake Creek has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 175.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Huntsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 257.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Lake Creek didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Huntsville in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 29-24 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
