Basketball Recap: Southeast Guilford Falls Despite Big Games from Byron Arant and Jayce Brannon

Southeast Guilford lost against Northwest Guilford back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The matchup between the Southeast Guilford Falcons and the Northwest Guilford Vikings didn't end well, with the Southeast Guilford Falcons falling 75-59. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while the Vikings are ranked 148th).

Despite the loss, Southeast Guilford had strong showings from Jayce Brannon, who posted 14 points, and Byron Arant, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. Brannon is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. James Warren was another key player, putting up nine points.

Southeast Guilford's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-7. As for Northwest Guilford, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. It'll be Eastside v. Westside when Southeast Guilford and Western Guilford meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southeast Guilford knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Western Guilford likes a good challenge. As for Northwest Guilford, they will challenge Ragsdale at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest Guilford is facing Ragsdale at the right time seeing as Ragsdale is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
