Sutton has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Sandy Creek Cougars at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Sutton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while Sandy Creek is ranked 43rd).
On Tuesday, Sutton beat Milford 39-29.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sutton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cole Baumert, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Jones, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Sandy Creek came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Fairbury with points to spare, taking the game 55-37.
Sutton pushed their record up to 8-7 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Sandy Creek's record now sits at 11-3.
Sutton couldn't quite finish off Sandy Creek in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 and fell 32-30. Can Sutton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
