Softball Recap: Bishop Mcdevitt Has No Trouble Against Susquehanna Township

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gettysburg, Bishop McDevitt was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Susquehanna Township HANNA 12-2. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Janna Thomas made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Katelyn Roadcap was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Pachince Mallard, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

Bishop McDevitt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .370 or higher in four consecutive games.

Bishop McDevitt's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Susquehanna Township, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Bishop McDevitt will head out to challenge Berks Catholic at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Susquehanna Township, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Trinity at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The HANNA's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Shamrocks have averaged an impressive 11.1 runs per game this season.
