The Withrow Tigers's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They slipped by Woodward 54-53. The victory was all the more spectacular given Withrow's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 366th, while Woodward is ranked 42nd).
Michael Johnson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. Avery Jordan was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Withrow's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Woodward, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Withrow's road trip will continue as they head out to face Western Hills at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Western Hills has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 900 points over their last 13 contests. As for Woodward, they will head out on the road to take on Taft at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
