2A-1 Region III District 12 recap September 17, 2013
Whitney moved up to 623 from 798 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A-1 Region III District 12. The Wildcats were able to make move up by topping Clyde 37-14.
Godley took down Boyd 41-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.
KAINE BLAKE was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 113 yards on 24 carries as Life Red Oak fell to Scurry-Rosser. PRESTON GRASE also contributed to the rushing game with 22 yards on the ground.
FORDE was the best wideout in the league this week as the Mustangs fell to the Wildcats. FORDE tallied 9 receptions for 101 yards. GRASE helped Life Red Oak's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 20 yards.
Ty Mitchell threw for 125 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Brett Gilchrist was a passing and rushing force as Whitney topped the Bulldogs. He completed 22 passes for 276 yards and also ran for 7 yards. Gilchrist's key target this week was Cole Brunett, who caught 9 passes for 98 yards.
Mitchell put up the best numbers in passing as Palmer beat Southwest Christian. Mitchell's favorite target this week was Jake Anglin, who caught 5 passes for 71 yards.
The leading receiver in the league this season is FORDE. The Life Red Oak star has 19 catches for 372 yards.
Kenneth Gilchrist's team made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,309 from 8,577. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 37-14 victory over Clyde last week.
