The Edmonds-Woodway Warriors will venture away from home to challenge the Mountlake Terrace Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Edmonds-Woodway has three straight victories, Mountlake Terrace has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Monday, Edmonds-Woodway was able to grind out a solid win over Archbishop Murphy, taking the game 11-6. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by exactly five runs.

The team relied heavily on Maddie Jones, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Catie Ingalls, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Edmonds-Woodway hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matchups.
Lake Stevens hit Mountlake Terrace with a four-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hawks lost 10-2 to the Vikings. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Hawks couldn't push the score so high this time.
Mountlake Terrace saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bri Reyes, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Edmonds-Woodway's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Mountlake Terrace, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Edmonds-Woodway has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mountlake Terrace struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Edmonds-Woodway was able to grind out a solid win over Mountlake Terrace in their previous matchup back in April, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
