The Desert Christian Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Valley Union Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Desert Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Valley Union likes a good challenge.
Desert Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 21 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 74-53 margin over St. Augustine Catholic. Given Desert Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while St. Augustine Catholic is ranked 207th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jonathan Brown and Tyson Dobbins were among the main playmakers for Desert Christian as the former scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and the latter almost dropped a triple-double on 23 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. The game was Brown's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Serrano, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Valley Union took a serious blow against Bisbee on Monday, falling 81-35.
Desert Christian pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.67 points. As for Valley Union, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Desert Christian against Valley Union in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 73-33 win. With Desert Christian ahead 42-13 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
