The Valley Center Jaguars will head out on the road to square off against the Sweetwater Red Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Valley Center is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Francis Parker by a score of 11-8.
Winter Molina was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Maya Cueva was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Su'La Devers, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Sweetwater entered their tilt with San Ysidro on Thursday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They were the clear victors by a 19-6 margin over the Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Red Devils have posted against the Cougars since March 7, 2022.
Like Valley Center, Sweetwater also got a great game from a two-way player: Tatyana Mosqueda. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Mosqueda has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, Sweetwater got a massive performance out of Gabriella Sena, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and four RBI. Destiny Martinez was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Sweetwater always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Ysidro only posted an OBP of .385.
Sweetwater pushed their record up to 19-2-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Valley Center, their record is now 10-19.
