The Meridian Hawks were the 72-67 winner over the Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals when they last played one another last Friday, but their luck changed this time around. Meridian fell to the Cardinals 54-50.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooks Brown, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Denny, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Meridian's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Warrensburg-Latham, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-8.
Meridian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Maroons at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. Clinton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Hawks in Illinois (the Maroons are ranked 73rd, while the Hawks are ranked 285th). Warrensburg-Latham will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Rams at 8:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Shelbyville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 334 points over their last five contests.
