On Friday Charles City will take on Waverly-Shell Rock at 7:30 PM. Charles City stagger into the match hobbled by three consecutive losses while Waverly-Shell Rock skip in buoyed by three consecutive wins.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 28-69, which was the final score in Charles City's tilt against West Delaware last Friday. The state rankings had actually given Charles City a slight edge heading into the game, making this hurt that much more.
Meanwhile, Waverly-Shell Rock put the finishing touches on their 3rd blowout victory of the season. They put the hurt on Independence with a sharp 27-0 victory. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Waverly-Shell Rock had established a 24-0 advantage.
Waverly-Shell Rock's win lifted them to 7-1 while Charles City's loss dropped them down to 4-4. We'll see if Waverly-Shell Rock's success rolls on or if Charles City are able to steal their positive momentum.
