On Friday, The Hewitt-Trussville Huskies faced the Spain Park Jaguars in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Hewitt-Trussville's rough 50-29 defeat to Spain Park might stick with them for a while. Hewitt-Trussville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Spain Park apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Hewitt-Trussville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Peyton Floyd. Despite the final result, he rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 242 yards and a touchdown while completing 76% of his passes.
Spain Park found their leader in underclassman Brock Bradley, who threw for 411 yards and four touchdowns while completing 79.4% of his passes.
Hewitt-Trussville's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Spain Park, the victory was the third in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hewitt-Trussville will face off against Chelsea at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chelsea is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Spain Park, they will head out on the road to face off against Oak Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oak Mountain is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
