Jackson Meece made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Northeast is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 8-13 otherwise. Meece was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Northeast got a massive performance out of Isaiah Robinson, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Robinson is becoming a predictor of the Eagles' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 7-14 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarion Green, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two doubles.
Northeast kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kenwood only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, Springfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 11-1 to Friendship Christian.
Springfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Damarion Mimms, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Northeast, their win bumped their record up to 12-15.
Northeast came out on top in a nail-biter against Springfield when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 11-9. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellow Jackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
