Greenwood Christian Academy will square off against Trinity Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Greenwood Christian Academy's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Trinity Lutheran has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Greenwood Christian Academy and University, and University kept the tradition alive. The Cougars lost 8-2 to the Trailblazers on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly six runs.
Greenwood Christian Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Jackson, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Trinity Lutheran duked it out with Loogootee on Saturday. The Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 win over the Lions. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Drake Goodpaster made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Trinity Lutheran is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-10 otherwise. Goodpaster was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nathan Finke, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Trinity Lutheran's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-11 when he doesn't).
Trinity Lutheran's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Greenwood Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Greenwood Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Trinity Lutheran struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
