Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Spaulding

Spaulding barely beat Manchester Memorial the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Red Raiders never let the Crusaders get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Wednesday. The Red Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to James Mabey's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Garrett Truax and Colby Lambert did most of the damage at the plate: Truax went 4-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Lambert went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those four runs gave Lambert a new career-high. Ty Lindsay was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Spaulding was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Manchester Memorial only posted a batting average of .125.

The win was the fourth in a row for Spaulding, bringing their record up to 9-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Manchester Memorial, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Spaulding will square off against rival Pinkerton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Red Raiders 2.5, the Astros 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Manchester Memorial is set to face off against their familiar foe Winnacunnet at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
