They walked away with a 61-52 win over Wheeler. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Calumet New Tech also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Calumet New Tech was led to victory by Eric Allen and John Hudson. Allen scored 13 points along with eight assists and three steals, while Hudson scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hudson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Amir Watson, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Marek Barton and Brady Rife certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Barton scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Rife scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Barton scored 15 or more points. Carter Blane was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five assists.
Calumet New Tech is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. As for Wheeler, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calumet New Tech will take on Gary West Side at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Gary West Side's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games. As for Wheeler, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Whiting at 7:00 p.m. Whiting is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
