4A Far West recap Oct. 9, 2012
Siuslaw extended the longest winning streak in 4A Far West this week by beating Sutherlin, 41-12. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
The Bulldogs made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,073 from 9,598. The advance stemmed from a 41-12 victory over Sutherlin last week.
Douglas' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Trojans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jordan Shaffer has thrown for 1107 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Riley Lavin has 26 catches for 344 yards. Nate Vosika leads the league in rushing with 477 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Douglas takes on Siuslaw. The Trojans' offense has scored 189 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Tim Dodson's team has allowed only 71 on the year.
A big matchup in 4A Far West this week will be when Douglas takes on the Vikings. As it stands, Joe Polamalu's team is in third, while Siuslaw is in first.
North Bend/Oregon Coast Tech led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on South Umpqua.
