Kohelet Yeshiva will stay at home for another game and welcome the Girard College Cavaliers at 5:15 p.m. on February 6th. Kohelet Yeshiva knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully the Cavaliers like a good challenge.
With a playoff game on the line, Kohelet Yeshiva rose to the challenge on Thursday. They strolled past the The Bruins with points to spare, taking the game 74-56. The final score was a far cry from the score of their previous head-to-head, which saw the teams combine for two points.
Asher Kahlon was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Kohelet Yeshiva's points. Daniel Benjamini was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Meanwhile, Girard College earned a 51-44 win over the Wolves on Tuesday. Given Girard College's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 310th in Pennsylvania, while the Wolves are ranked 691st in New Jersey), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Antoine Seals, who scored 27 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Brasen Avent, who scored two points along with 20 rebounds and five steals.
Kohelet Yeshiva pushed their record up to 15-5 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Girard College, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season.
