The Winona Tigers are taking a road trip to face off against the Kossuth Aggies at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Winona is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Humphreys County by a score of 14-11. The game was the first time the Tigers have beaten the Cowboys on their field since April 8, 2022.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kossuth). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Coahoma County an 18-0 shutout on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Aggies as they're now sitting on three straight.
Ethan Killough was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.
In other batting news, Kossuth got a massive performance out of Ayden Wilbanks, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Wilbanks has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Kipptyn Briggs was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Kossuth lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in February.
Winona's record now sits at 7-11. As for Kossuth, their record is now 21-5.
Winona might still be hurting after the 19-4 loss they got from Kossuth in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
