Holy Trinity dropped their record down to 16-9 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Latin Romans, falling 12-2. The Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Romans from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Holy Trinity saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cristian Flores, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
As for Latin, their victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.
On Latin's side, Karim Patterson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Patterson has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other pitching news, Liam Calvert looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Noah Katz, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Gavin Addison was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Holy Trinity does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Latin, they will challenge Timothy Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Romans surely won't give up without a fight.
